    GUBDT's spring of ballroom begins on Wednesday, January 16, 2013 with our regular weekly classes. Some highlights for this semester in addition to weekly classes include social dance events, competing at the Mid-Atlantic Championships Feb 16 - 17, 2013 and the Harvard Invitational March 23-24, 2013, and GUBDT's very own Dancing with the Hoyas!

  • Announcing the Fifth Annual Masquerade Ball!
    The Georgetown University Ballroom Dance Team is delighted to announce their major social event of the semester, Masquerade Ball. 

    On December 7th, 2012, Copley Formal Lounge will be filled with masked guests floating across the dance floor (or tearing it up, depending on the music at the time), and enjoying refreshments and elegant company at one of Georgetown’s finest traditions.

    We invite all students, regardless of dance background, to join us for this winter formal event. GUBDT will host a compliment
    ary one hour dance lesson before the event on some ballroom basics and a free social lesson during the preceding weekend.

    Masquerade Ball features an evening of socializing and dancing in Copley Formal Lounge. Music will include ballroom classics, latin hits, dancefloor fillers, holiday favorites, and pop music. Guests dress in formal attire and are encouraged to wear masks. There will be light refreshments as well as a chocolate fountain.
    We will also have photographers and event photos will be up on our page after the event. 

    Tabling begins Monday, November 26th in the Leavey Center Lobby, and continues on weekdays from 10-4pm until December 7th. Both tickets and masks are available for purchase. Tickets are $15 for a single ticket, $20 for a couple, and masks vary in price depending on design. Tickets and masks will also be available at the door. 

    Whether you prefer dancing Standard (waltz, tango, foxtrot, quickstep, Viennese), Latin (cha cha, rumba, jive, samba, paso), social dances (salsa, hustle, etc.), or your own free style, we invite you to join us for a wonderful evening of glamour and dance.

    --- Ballroom members love sharing their love of dance! Ask anyone for tips or moves before or during the event.

Organized entirely by students, the Georgetown University Ballroom Dance Team includes a competitive team and offers several types and levels of classes for social members as well as team members. Members are invited to local weekly social dance outings and special classes, events, and performances on campus and in the DC area.
